Research playbook

Competitor Research

A comparison you can brief a campaign from — not a pile of tabs.

Overview

Competitor Research is Rhea and Ava’s job, with Noor on the commercial read. They compare positioning, offers, pricing, and GTM, then recommend how you should show up differently. Maya keeps the brief tight so the output is a decision, not a novel.

When to use this

  • You are entering a category or refreshing positioning.
  • You can name competitors or at least the category.
  • You need gaps and a recommended response, not a scrapbook.
  • Sales and marketing will use the same comparison.

Required inputs

  • Competitor names or category
  • Target market
  • Product or service description
  • Key comparison criteria
  • Known positioning

  • Open a dedicated channel (or thread) for this playbook so context stays together.
  • Pin the brand guide, brief, and any source files Maya should share with the team.
  • Message Maya with the example prompt. She will assign specialists and flag missing inputs.

Approval gates

Competitor set

You confirm who is in and out before deep research starts.

Recommended response

Ava’s positioning recommendation is approved before it feeds a launch or ads playbook.

Automations

Quarterly refresh

Re-run the same competitor set on a schedule and diff against the last matrix.

Feed a launch

Hand the approved response into Campaign Launch or Ad Campaign Creation.

Slack / Teams commands

Mention Maya in Slack or Microsoft Teams, then paste one of these. Same words in both apps. You can also say @Team24.
